A ledger of the meals and the moments you share with people. Photographs are made with the camera inside the app, at the table, and kept here. One photograph is one moment, and each moment is numbered in the order it was kept.
Because they are meant to. A photograph holds its color for three days from the moment it was taken, then turns a warm black and white and stays that way. Nothing is lost when this happens. The original is untouched on the device, and the black and white is worked out fresh each time the photograph is shown.
Yes, once a year. On a moment's own date it returns to color for that whole day, then settles back. A moment kept on 29 February returns on 28 February in years without one.
The camera in the app is the only way in. That is what keeps the ledger a record of evenings that happened rather than a collection assembled later. There is no import, and there are no filters or edits beyond the two treatments the app applies itself.
Who, What, and Remember can be changed until the photograph turns. They lock with it. An anniversary brings the color back for the day but not the boxes.
On your device. Back up to iCloud is on by default and copies them into the private database of your own iCloud account, so a new phone restores the ledger with its numbering, labels, and fade states intact. Settings shows a plain status line, including when a backup is waiting because iCloud is full or the phone is offline.
Open the moment and choose Save to Photos. It saves as it looks at that moment, in its current treatment, at full resolution. Save to Photos lives there and only there; a long press in the ledger is a shortcut to Edit, Share and Delete, and does not carry it. There is also a switch in Settings that keeps every original in Photos in full color as you shoot, which is off unless you turn it on.
Yes, behind a plain confirmation, and what happens next depends on whether you subscribe. Without the subscription a delete is immediate and cannot be undone. The confirmation is the only warning you get, and the photograph goes with the moment. With the subscription, a deleted moment waits in Recently deleted, in Settings, for 30 days, and Restore brings it back; after 30 days it is gone from the device and from iCloud.
Delete a moment within 72 hours of keeping it and the numbers close up behind it, because that window is for correcting a mis-tap. Delete one after that and its number stays empty, because by then the number is part of the record.
fatto. works without one. The subscription is reached by the word "subscribe" at the top of the ledger, and it is the only place the app asks. It comes as an annual or a monthly plan, with the price shown on that screen and in the App Store. Anyone who has not had it before starts with one free week; Apple allows that once per Apple Account, and the screen says which of the two applies to you before you buy.
It carries: the option of a week of color instead of three days, which is a choice in Settings and starts off; 280 characters on Remember instead of 140; Remind me later, which puts off filling a moment in until the next morning; private moments; Recently deleted, the 30 day grace on a delete; alternate app icons; holding a faded photograph to look back at it in color; and sharing clean, at full resolution, without the small fatto. watermark.
Restore purchases sits on the same screen, for a new phone or a reinstall. Cancelling is done where every subscription is, in the App Store through your Apple Account in iOS Settings.
If it lapses, three things hold. A moment already keeping its color for a week finishes that week. Nothing you have written is truncated. A private moment stays private, and can still be revealed and unmarked, so nothing is ever locked away from you.
What changes: new moments go back to three days and to 140 characters, shares carry the watermark again and are no longer full resolution, holding a photograph no longer brings the color back, no new moment can be marked private, and Recently deleted goes. That last one has an edge worth knowing: a moment already waiting there cannot be reached without the subscription, and it is still purged at its 30 day mark. If a lapse is coming and something is waiting, restore it first.
The lock is free and off unless you turn it on. With it on, the ledger asks for Face ID when the app is opened cold, and frosts over when the app goes to the background, so it is frosted in the app switcher too. The device passcode always works as well. A phone with no passcode set cannot lock, and Settings says so plainly.
A private moment is blurred where it sits in the ledger. Reveal asks for Face ID and shows it for as long as you are looking. On a phone with no passcode there is nothing to ask, so Reveal simply opens and the blur is all there is. Marking needs the subscription and is always something you do by hand, never automatic; unmarking never needs it. A private moment is backed up like any other.
With the subscription, a moment whose three boxes are still open offers Remind me later beside Done. It asks iPhone for permission at that tap and nothing sooner. The reminder arrives at nine the next morning and opens that moment. Declining the permission breaks nothing: the boxes stay open and you can fill them whenever you like, subscription or not.
