MapPop

A little world in every state.

Coming to the App Store

Updated 2 November 2026

MapPop teaches the fifty states and their capitals on a clay map, one little world at a time. In a one-minute lesson your child meets a state, puts it back in its place on the map and writes its capital. A daily five keeps the capitals bright, each region ends with a round of its own, and a passport fills with stamps. It is made for children of about nine to eleven, on iPhone and iPad.

Help for grown-ups

Where is progress kept? In the app, on the device your child plays on. Each explorer has their own map, stars and passport.

How many children can play? Up to six explorers on one iPhone or iPad, each with their own progress.

What does Read to me do? MapPop reads every word out loud: the questions, the hints and the memory tricks. With I’ll read, the words are on the screen to read. Either way, every explorer writes the capitals. Read to me also puts the first letter in place the first time a state’s capital is asked, and sets the pace at two new states a day instead of three.

Where are the settings? Behind the small lock in the top right corner, where a grown-up gets in by passing a short check first. There you can add an explorer, change an explorer’s home state, switch an explorer between Read to me and I’ll read, and reset an explorer’s progress. You can also turn Narration, Sounds and Music on or off.

Does it need the internet? No. The map, the voice and the sounds are all part of the app.

Privacy policy

This is MapPop’s privacy policy. MapPop is made for children, so it is built to collect nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party code, and the app itself sends nothing to us or to anyone else.

When an explorer is made, MapPop asks for a first name, a travel buddy and the state they live in, picked on the map, never a town or an address. It keeps them with that explorer’s progress (the map, stars, passport and best scores) in the app on the device. The name is there to greet the explorer and the state to choose where their map begins, and none of it is used for anything else.

All of it stays until you remove it. Reset, in the grown-ups’ settings, clears an explorer’s progress. Deleting MapPop from the device removes every explorer and everything they did. A backup of the device to iCloud or a computer keeps a copy until that backup is replaced or deleted. The app sends us nothing, so we hold nothing from it to delete.

If a version of MapPop ever changes what it keeps or where it keeps it, for example by adding iCloud sync, this page will say so before that version reaches the App Store. The only way out of the app is the support link behind the grown-ups’ lock, which opens this page in your browser.

What holds for every ClearVista app, this website, the App Store and email, is on the privacy page.
